Carroll Mansion and MADE: In America™

Blue Sky Painting & Carpentry is proud to be a Project Partner in the Carroll Mansion- 2016 All America show. The All American House is an exhibition of American design and manufacturing. For 2016, student design teams from Morgan State, Stevenson University, Community College of Baltimore County, and the George Washington University/Corcoran School of Art + Design re-imagined the historic interiors of the Carroll Mansion with a contemporary eye. America’s best manufacturers and designers worked with students to create a new look in American design. More than a dozen American manufacturers, including eight companies based in Maryland, loaned items for the show.

Carroll Mansion Professionals, Designers and Students

Blue Sky Painting & Carpentry has a long history of working with top interior designers. Early in his career, Owner and Veteran, Tom Chervek, was fortunate to train with an industry master after completing his tour in the Marine Corps. Apprenticeships are rare these days. The opportunity to be involved with a project like this was irresistible. Watching the evolution of a project in which students get to work the design process amidst seasoned design professionals was a natural match for Blue Sky. Today’s student is tomorrow’s designer. The interaction and camaraderie between students and professionals and instills a quality standard that will benefit the future designer, and the communities they serve, for years to come.

Carroll Mansion Many Faces

The Carroll Mansion was the winter home of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout its history the mansion served as a saloon, immigrant tenement, vocational school, and recreation center. Despite changes over the years, the mansion remains one of the best examples of Federal architecture in Baltimore. The Carroll Mansion show is the second home design project MADE: In America has produced. The first show was completed in 2013 at Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, Va.

The All American House will run from May 4 – July 10.

Special events throughout the run include lectures, a VIP Preview Party and Fundraiser Auction. For tickets and more events, visit the www.carrollmuseums.org .
